Art

The inspiration for my work emanates from visions, memories and dreams. The work sensitively explores the mysterious, unknown and impalpable alongside deeply personal experiences surrounding landscape, sacred spaces and mortality.

I predominantly work in acrylic pigment on primed board, wood or paper. I create composite works, sections of heavy watercolour paper or wood are spliced, rearranged and fixed to form new and abrupt compositions. I apply paint to surfaces intuitively and freely, letting the medium fluidly lead my response. This feedback is important, as it forms an emotional link between feeling, my visual perception and the work as it becomes manifest. I work swiftly, so as to not let thoughts interrupt a frantic yet delicate process as I aim to maintain within the works a high degree of feeling and sincerity. I apply a similar working process as I work on digital animations, I slice and layer complex hand-rendered textures and juxtapose these elements into a rolling jarring and ever changing abstract story and composition.

My work is firmly rooted in traditional media including pencil, ink, paint, paper collage and wood. I construct three-dimensional objects sculpted from natural and recycled synthetic materials. Currently I am focused on further exploring and developing a body of abstract paintings along with digital animated works with the inclusion of sound.
